Wooden spatulas for flipping burgers
If you are looking to buy a wooden spatula to flip your burgers or turn your fish fillets or omelets, you need to make sure you check out the edge of the blade of the wooden spatula.
To flip or turn any food or to lift it out of the pan onto your plate the edge must be thin. Often, especially if wooden spatulas are made from softer woods, or bamboo, they have a thick blade edge, so it does not break or splinter.
But it can be too thick to get under the food you are cooking. So instead of being able to flip your burger it simply pushes it around the pan.
Make sure the wooden spatula you buy has a nice thin edge, with no bumps or knots that will mark your non stick pan. It should be made of a really strong wood, Teak, maple, cherry, that will not split in heat.
There are other things to look for, left handed right handed, things that will make it right for you, the feel of the handle. But many people do not think about the edge, and can it flip their burger for them.
